Photo last, always
Every profile stays blurred until two people choose each other on words alone.
BlindSpark is a small, independent team with one stubborn belief: the most interesting thing about a person is never their first photo.
It began with a conversation that kept repeating itself. Friends would show me their dating apps — hundreds of faces, a few seconds each, and almost no memory of anyone afterwards. Everybody was tired, and nobody could explain what they were actually looking for.
The problem was never the people. It was the order of information. When the photo comes first, everything else is a footnote. So we flipped it: put the story, the values, and the honest flaws in front, and hold the picture back until two people have already chosen each other for who they are.
The first version of BlindSpark was a rough prototype shared with a handful of friends. The messages coming out of it were longer, warmer, and far more specific than anything they'd sent on other apps. That was the signal. We kept building.
Today BlindSpark is still deliberately simple: one membership, no tiers, no ad targeting, no dark patterns designed to keep you scrolling. We would rather you meet someone and close the app.
Every profile stays blurred until two people choose each other on words alone.
Green flags and red flags side by side. Nobody is a highlight reel, and pretending helps no one.
No streaks, no gamified pressure, no endless upsells. One membership, every feature.
We measure success in conversations that go somewhere — not in hours spent swiping.
